20 Minute Set-up Challenge (Apprentice) By Antony and Jamie
Under the pressure of the wind and rain, G4s' Inquiry groups had to face their third 'Apprentice' challenge, a 20 minute limit set up. It was hard to move the desks, but most people managed it. After all the moving desks, and preparing for the gala, we had a BIG tidy up. On Friday it the real Gala Day. Go G4!

Sing for Starship!
Supreme Sherbet Sing 4 Sherbet
Some kids are sick
The Starship kids need us so they can live a longer life
We're their only hope
They're the children of the future
Your money could save their life
The time has come around at last for us to tell the world that...
Chorus
They need us to help them help them
Starship kids are sick
Starship is helping them helping them
Helping the kids
We can give money, money
Cause they are so unwell
The children are so sick, sick
Donate if you care!
Starship needs your help
You can see them from windows they are coughing and sneezing
Starships the best there is
They can help make a difference
They can give kids back their dreams
The time has come around at last for kids to get much better.
Repeat Chorus
Paper Incorporated Sing 4 Starship
The kids need our help
As the spotlight beams upon you, we can help save a child's life
They’re your kids, your hopes
They're the people of the future
The kids are the face of Starship
The time has come around for us to donate to Starship children
Chorus
Starship kids need your help, need your help
Starship kids should live
You should be giving it, giving it
Look what they’ve been through
Starship can do anything, anything
They need support
Starship kids need your help, need your help
Starship was meant to fly!
Now the fight begins
You can see us raising money, by selling paper products
We can raise all the money, we can take it to the sick kids
Starship Kids need donations
The time has come around for us to donate to Starship children...
Repeat Chorus

Sing 4 Starship By Star and Anqi
Last Thursday, for Inquiry, we had to make a song about supporting and giving to Starship Children's Hospital. We all had loooooooaads of brilliant ideas.
Luckily, we didn't have to make up our own tune and our own beat, instead, we simply made the song with 'kiwi kids' as the 'background'. We didn't finish the song, but are going to continue to work on it this week. Hopefully we will be able to finish writing our song in time.

Challenge Week 2
Rosemary being a monkey |
Matt communicating with Jayda |
Dylan as a zombie |
On Tuesday we had our weekly challenge. We were learning about communication and how important it is. This was our focus because some people weren't listening to others in groups and it was becoming a problem. Firstly we brainstormed some questions we would need to ask ourselves during the challenge.
One of our challenges was to guide somebody around the playground and one of us was blind. It was a very hard challenge because we had to communicate clear instructions with our voice. We also had another very difficult challenge where we couldn't talk but we had to do actions to lead them around the play ground. We learned that we use a lot of communication every day and knowing how to communicate clearly is so important leading up to gala day.
Here is what we decided excellent communication looks like, sounds like and feels like:

The Apprentice Weekly Challenges By Cameron
Yesterday we had our first group challenge. Every week we have to work in a group to create something to . This week we had to invent and create two original catchphrases
that encourage others to give. Each catchphrase needed to be presented attractively. The point of these weekly tasks is to help learn what our groups strengths and weaknesses are so we are prepared for the gala. I learned that my group needs to be split up evenly not just boy group and girl group.
Although 'Paper Incorporated' struggled to work together at times, I was delighted with the way you reflected on this at the end of the lesson and thought about how you will improve on this next time. I like the design of the first catchphrase as the background refers to 'space' which was a clever idea. I'm not too sure what the second catchphrase is telling me? NS: Think about your colour choices, do they reflect the message behind your catchphrase.
The Xmas Craft Genius' decided to split their group into a boys team and a girls team. I was happy to see the thinking that happened afterwards when they mentioned that next time they might try mixing both genders together. The messages behind both catchphrases were of great quality. In relation to design the first catchphrase stands out because of the colours used, however the second catchphrase is quite hard to read. NS: spend more time on your design, choose colours pictures and words that match up with your message.
Comment: The Spotty Pyjamas worked really well as a team. They listened and helped one another and everyone was participating and contributing which was great to see. The Spotty Pyjamas connected both catchphrases together through using the same rainbow background. This made it obvious that they were from the same designers. I'm not exactly sure how you second catchphrase encourages others to give? NS: Read the task carefully next time so you stay focused on your goal
Comment: Although the Supreme Sherbets were slow to make a start, I was impressed by the enthusiasm of the group. The 'Supreme Sherbet' used Pages and Kid Pix to create their creative catchphrases. I was impressed with the ideas behind both phrases. I thought the Supreme Sherbets used rhyme in a clever way to encourage others to support Starship. NS: Spend more time on your design, what colours and pictures reflect my message?

Questions By G4
Today we came up with some questions we will need to ask ourselves along our Inquiry journey. Miss Slater was impressed with how 'deep' we were thinking.
Will we get good feedback?
Am I staying on topic?
Will the money I have raised change a child's life?
After the gala what else can I do to help others?
Is this item good enough to sell?
Will I help one child or more?
How will we raise money if we don't raise lots on the day?
When I am older, how many more ways can I help?
Could my group help one another to remember the cause we are supporting?
What else can we do in the community to help Starship?
Is what I'm selling a "good" product?
After the gala, if I still have some old toys, should I keep them or give them to Starship?

Our questions! By G4
Today Miss Slater asked G4 what questions they will need to answer to prepare for gala day. Wow look at all our thinking!
What will we sell?
How will we sell it?
How will we 'sell' Starship?
How will we let people know they are giving to Starship?
How can we encourage others to give through what we sell?
Will we wrap our product?
Who are we selling to?
Who are we selling to?
How can we get people to buy our product?
How much will we sell it for?
How will we set up our shop?
Who will bring in our supplies?
Who will be working during the gala?
How can we organise who is working when?
Where will out stall be?
What will we say to the customers?
Who is best at doing the talking?
Who is best at doing the talking?
When will we need to have our products finished by?

What shall we sell at the Gala to make money for Starship?
We used a decision making matrix to come up with our choice. It will be hard to come up with a final decision but we are off to a good start!
