Our visit to Korokoro Stream By G4

On Friday G4 and G1 explored Korokoro Stream at Belmont Regional Park. First we walked through the bush and looked at the riffles, runs and pools. We also looked for algae, the stability of the banks, and checked out the stream bed.

We then tested the stream in four different ways. These were macro invertebrate identification, water clarity, human impacts and testing the temperature.

We discovered that Korokoro stream was in excellent condition. This was because it had quite a lot of shade, a variety of macro invertebrates, a thin layer of algae, many pools, riffles and runs, a low temperature (less than 15 degrees), and not much negative human impacts.
